Star Awards 2009 Short List

The short-listed nominees for the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) 2009 STAR Awards have been announced.  The Awards, in their sixth year, celebrate the unsung heroes of the further education and skills sector, recognising the hard work and dedication of people who really make a difference.

The new teaching, training and learning practitioner category for learners received a high level of interest and the number of overall nominations was “overwhelming”.

The short-list comprises 110 nominees are from wide range of organisations, and while the Awards are again dominated by colleges, there are a handful of non college folk mentioned including nominees from JHP Training, Bedford Training Group, Shape Training and Access to Music.

As we are based in Norfolk, we thought we’d give Beverley Evans, Head of Norfolk County Council Adult Education Services a mention who has been short listed in the Leadership category.

Another notable mention is Jane Pigott, Quality Manager of Beneast Training Limited (we obviously have to champion the Quality Manager role on our site!) who is up for Lifetime Achievement Award.

Visit the Star Awards site to download full details of the short-listed nominees.

Regional celebration events will be held in Leeds, Birmingham and London in October followed by the national ceremony on 26 November. Congratulations to everyone who has been nominated - everyone’s a winner (well not technically, but you know what we mean!).
