Ofsted Safeguarding Update

Ofsted have updated their Frequently Asked Questions and now have a section dedicated to safeguarding.

Click here to access the FAQs.

There isn't really any new information about what they expect, and anyone who has familiarised themselves with the Common Inspection Framework and/or Vetting & Barring Scheme will already understand most of what is written.  However, it is useful to get clarification (even if it does have a college/WBL focus!).

There is still an inference that safeguarding arrangements only apply to those who are children or who meet the official definition of "vulnerable", and it is clear that your own risk assessment process is vital in making such judgements.  However, we would advise that providers ensure the safety of any of their service users, irrespective of their official classification.

Remember we offer services to support providers with developing safeguarding policies, procedures and provide staff training in this area.
