New Year Honours 2010

So who has appeared on the New Years Honours List besides Status Quo and Jenson Button?

The stars have been accompanied by a host of unknown people doing their bit for their schools, community, research, animal welfare, human rights and many other good causes. Notable inclusions from our sector are:
 

  • Emma Harrison, A4e - awarded an CBE for services to unemployed people and to the voluntary sector.
  • Janette Faherty, TNG/Avanta - awarded an OBE for services to unemployed people and to entrepreneurship.
  • Martin Dunford, ALP/Skills Training UK - awarded an OBE for services to skills.

For those of you who are interested CBEs are awarded for:
 

  • a prominent national role of a lesser degree or
  • a conspicuous leading role in regional affairs, through achievement or service to the community or
  • making a highly distinguished, innovative contribution in his or her area of activity

OBEs are awarded for:
 

  • a distinguished regional or country-wide role in any field
  • through achievement or service to the community
  • including notable practitioners known nationally
