New Enterprise Allowance Bidding Opportunity

The New Enterprise Allowance will be expanding in April 2011 to cover additional target areas before being rolled out nationally in the Autumn.  Today, DWP today have invited intersted organisations to complete an application apply for funding to help deliver the NEA in the following Jobcentre Plus Districts:

  • Birmingham and Solihull
  • Black Country.
  • Durham and Tees Valley
  • Mercia
  • Merseyside
  • Northumberland, Tyne and Wear
  • South Yorkshire

The requirement is for organisations to:

  • source business mentors (volunteers - there is no funding to pay for them)
  • sift potential participants to establish their potential and the viability of their business idea
  • mentor matching
  • deliver mentoring to generate a viable business plan
  • link participants with available support, both information and financial
  • approve business plans
  • provide ongoing support for 26-weeks, once participants register as self-employed

DWP's estimate of the maximum unit cost per completer is approximately £600 which must cover all of the above.   As usual, however, a competitive price is a requirement so bidders are encouraged to do more for less than the advertised unit cost.
