Management of CEPs - DWP Inquiry

The Work and Pensions Committee have announced an inquiry into the management and administration of contracted employment programmes.

This is clearly in response to recent press articles about alleged fraudulent claims submitted by some providers.  The select committe is seeking input from interested organisations and individuals with particular regard to whether, among other things:

  • safeguards are sufficient to prevent providers from making fraudulent claims for outcomes
  • protection is sufficient for employees who raise concerns about their employers’ delivery
  • DWP’s contract management approach ensures the quality of service received by customers
  • DWP and the National Audit Office effectively monitor the accuracy of providers’ systems, performance, and claims evidence
  • the centralisation of contract management in DWP has impacted onthe role of JCP and provider and customer experience of programmes
  • the customer charter proposed by DWP ensures that customers, JCP and contractors know what they can expect of employment programmes

Now we're sure that many of you who were working in the industry in the "good old days" can tell the committee exactly where things have gone wrong, so if you've got the time then let them know what you think.  Written contributions are requested by Thursday 1 October 2009.
