Global Entrepreneurship Week

This week (16 – 22 November 2009) is Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide movement of entrepreneurial people, with millions unleashing their enterprising talents and turning their ideas into reality.  GEW takes over from Enterprise Week which has been running for since 2004 and now reflects the global nature of commerce and development.

The aims of GEW are to:

  • Spark a global economic recovery
  • Tackle youth unemployment
  • Develop innovative solutions for a low-carbon future
  • Promote gender equality in the business world
  • Create a platform to share best practice among practitioners and educators

It provides an opportunity for organisations to showcase what they already do to help foster an enterprise culture, or to launch a new initiative or scheme.

Last year, 644,000 people attended various events and activities run in 77 countries.  You can search for events near you and gain more information about the Global Entrepreneurship Week from their website.
