Fraud in Employment Programmes

The Commons Select Committee has published its latest report into Preventing Fraud in Employoment Programmes. Following on from its report in February this year the Committee have looked at the work carried out by DWP in investigating the complaints raised by various individuals about fraud.

There appears to be nothing new or startling in the report.

The majority of the findings are a repeat of those published in February or resulting from the subsequent evidence sessions with Alan Cave and Robert Devereux. There are not really any new conclusions or recommendations.  The Committee still feels that DWP are not doing enough to prevent fraud, that their complaints and whistle blowing procedures are insufficient, and there is a lack of transparency with the performance of the Work Programme.
