FOI - DWP Expenditure Top 100

Under a Freedom of Information request DWP have published a list of their top 100 supplier by value showing how much they spent on each of these suppliers in April 2009 to March 2010.  We aren't sure why they decided to put it on their website as it was issued at the start of October and there's no explanation as to why they've released it now.  Very odd.

Anyway, topping the list is property company Telereal Trillium who received nearly £800m.  They are apparently looking at a 20% drop in its profits from the public sector because of the spending review.  We think they can probably afford it!  IT giants HP received nearly £700m.  Nearly £250m went to the LSC - you have to love government accounting!

Three training providers appear in the top 10:

  • No 6 - A4e at nearly £151m,
  • No 8 - Working Links (nearly £135m), and
  • No 10 - Shaw Trust (£71m).

A dozen or so providers feature in the top 50 with Ingeus, Reed, Avanta, Seetec, Serco, Pertemps, Skills Training, CDG and BEST all receiving over £20m each in the year.

What we now need is the number of job outcomes each of the training providers achieved in the same period to give us some really insightful information.  Anyone fancy submitting the next FOI request?
