The UK Council for Child Internet Safety is holding a conference today for 300 delegates from across government, industry, law enforcement and the third sector to launch of the first Child Internet Safety Strategy and a Digital Code for internet safety.

You can visit the UKCCIS website to get the low down but it's got a cool logo and a new Green Cross Code (that was, "Stop, Look, Listen" if you've forgotten).

As part of the initiative:

  • internet companies and the Government will be independently reviewed against new standards to keep children and young people safe online
  • the new Digital Code will be promoted
  • a one-stop shop website for internet safety advice will be by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre (CEOP)

From a safeguarding point of view, this may be an initiative, while aimed at children to the age of 17, that could be useful to welfare to work and adult skills sector providers.
