Be Enterprising

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has given the Prince Trust an extra £1 million to help unemployed young people explore the viability of their business plans, develop their initial ideas and bring their businesses to life through a new Be Enterprising programme.

The Be Enterprising programme was piloted in the South West to help unemployed young people explore options and progress into employment, training or seek further help to start a business.  Starting with a taster day to identify those who are interested and could benefit from the training, participants attended a 4 day course to explore their business idea.

In the next five months, 630 young people will participate in the new course and as a result 270 should establish a business.

Fifty young people who have already succeeded in setting up a business with help from The Prince’s Trust will become Young Ambassadors, to inspire other young people to be enterprising – particularly in the most deprived parts of England. Click here for the press release.

The PYBT supports people up to age 30 so visit their website and see what you could access in your area. Remember that under Flexible New Deal this type of existing provision can be used, so make the most of it. What have you got to lose?!.
