ALP Conference - May 2009

It's only a month to go until the Association of Learning Providers conference The Forum for Employment & Skills, being held on 13 and 14 May 2009 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.

We will be exhibiting at the conference for the first time, so please come along and meet us!

ALP are only holding one conference this year, so don't miss out.  The focus of the event will be on examining the strategic vision and policy planning direction for the FE Sector.  The agenda and details of speakers and workshops for the event are now available on the ALP website

We've picked out a few of the workshops for the event that look particularly interesting (particulary to the welfare to work sector):

  • No doubt a popular workshops will be the snappily titled (!) New Common Inspection Framework and inspection methodology for FE and Skills from September 2009 run by Ofsted.
  • A brave Chris Peters from DWP will be holding a workshop about Modernising Provider Referrals and Payments
  • EDI will be running a workshop about the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
  • Another interesting session by DWP will focus on the new Code of Conduct for prime contractors detailing the way they interface with subcontractors and delivery partners.
  • A session on TUPE regulations and how they apply to the sector will be delivered by David Faulkner of Martineu Solicitors.

And that's just day one!

Ministerial support on day one will come from Tony McNulty MP (Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform, DWP) and James Clappison MP (Shadow Minister for Work & Pensions), with Siôn Simon MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Further Education, DIUS) joining the conference on day two.

You can also find a list of all of the exhibitors on the website, for what looks to be a great event.  We look forward to seeing you there!
